Beautiful Chianti Classico - vines at Monte Bernardi, Panzano in Chianti

Chianti Classico Night with Jancis Robinson

I have joined the gradually swelling bandwagon of wine loving New Yorkers who think that we haven’t paid sufficient attention to Chianti Classico, so I am very excited to have the chance to taste more than 45 of the best (and highest-scoring) wines in the company of Jancis Robinson and Walter Speller (Italian critic for, who handpicked the wines. The selection includes many of the names we all know (Isole e Olena, Fontodi, Felsina, Monteraponi, San Giusto a Rentannano, etc etc) and many outstanding wines that we should all know, so it’s a chance to check-in with the famous bottles, and also to make some discoveries.

In addition to these fascinating wines, the price of admission includes:

  • lots of fine food;
  • a year’s membership of (over $110 at today’s exchange rate, and by far the most absorbing and consistently good read in wine);
  • AND an example of Jancis’ beautiful new tasting glass (pictured below, retail value $56) to use on the night and take home.

Our 2 previous self-pour tastings  with Jancis and Walter have been great fun and very informative, but I am especially looking forward to Chianti Classico Night – I hope you will take advantage of this bargain and join us! Jamie Wolff

NB: this is a walk-around tasting. There will be plenty of good food, but it's not a sit-down dinner!
