Graves, Haut Médoc, Pomerol, Saint Émilion, Margaux  -  Today's offer features more recent vintages of great classic red Bordeaux, all perfectly stored.  They show secondary aromas and depth, but still have lots of fruit; these wines are developed and delicious now and will be for years to come. These are wines that can handle grilled meats and powerful flavors, without being too heavy to drink this time of year.  Bordeaux to drink all summer! -jbt

Haut Marbuzet 1990 St Estèphe

A deep dark red, plummy and rich — very dark fruits and very complex.  An outstanding bottle of Saint Estephe, our friend and neighbor sommelier Adrien Falcon of Bouley Restaurant had this last year with the chateau owner and was very, very impressed.  A great effort from a great vintage.

l'Evangile 1994 Pomerol

This vintage is often overlooked in Bordeaux because the Cabernet Sauvignon wines were not so successful.   The Merlot in Pomerol however — holy cats these are great! Supple, silky, fresh aromatic wines.  Very, very elegant.  Very ripe tannins.   This has always been a favorite of mine, deep dark-red color, floral and cassis scents mixed with cedar, and it has the menthol character and limestone minerality that I adore in mature Pomerol.  Crisp acidity and a long finish.  This wine is drinking perfectly now and will for 5-10 more years. -JBT

Latour à Pomerol 1995 Pomerol

A powerful Pomerol.   As always, Latour a Pomerol offers up a seamless integration of blending and taste  — delicately balanced, vibrant fruit still supported by velvety tannin structure even at this mature age of its evolution. Warm, round and generous with beautiful spice notes on the nose and in the palate, this wine has that kind of glorious length on the tongue that offers untold layers of nuance and character — like one door giving way to the next in elegant succession. In short, for me, this is what we all dream our perfectly kept, properly mature Bordeaux would always offer us — a philosophical and profound taste sensation that transcends craft and emerges into the sublime. Old-fashioned Pomerol making — not over-extracted in style, deftly judged use of wood, the delicious beauty that only great great Merlot terroir can provide with that small hint of Cabernet Franc to give it the extra edge and dimension of identity — memorable, nearly ethereal at this stage of it's life. And this all spoken by a true Burgundian lover! I would put as many of these in my collection as I could afford. -JBT
