Bordeaux Fest

Share

Our second offer based on a combo of two great private cellars - after California, Bordeaux, and quite a nice range, with some fancy names, and lots more reasonably priced classic wines. We are loving how well the 1980's vintages are drinking now, and there's lots here.

From temperature-controlled cellars, we guarantee the quality of each bottle.

Lagrange 1989 St Julien

This is deep and rich and smoky with good plum/mulberry fruit — a very nice mature bottle of Saint Julien — true to form.

Lagrange 1990 St Julien

1990 was a fantastic vintage at Lagrange.  This wine is rich and plummy and ripe — a really juicy bottle of mature Saint Julien, a truly delicious bottle of mature Bordeaux and a great example of what Saint Julien is all about.  A very user friendly bottle of wine.

L'Evangile 1981 Pomerol

This vintage is often overlooked in favor of the great 1982s, but it was quite good all around Bordeaux, with Pomerols especially successful.  Now fully mature and showing great elegance and complexity.

La Gaffèliere 1990 St Emilion

An old-fashioned style of Saint Emilion, think bramble and forest floor with some tannin and muscle. Really honest and sincere wine. No new-fangled ,vanilla-scented, blueberry pancake syrup here!

Leoville Las Cases 1989 St. Julien

Leoville las Cases is the greatest wine of Saint Julien. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Its next door neighbor is the esteemed Chateau Latour. This 1989 Leoville is drinking beautifully at 20 + years of age, it is a deep ruby red starting to turn brick red at the rim, the tannins have dropped out, it has a rich bouquet of cedar and plums and mulberries and has become very soft and supple. This wine has reached its plateau of maturity and has at least another 10 years ahead of it.
