Dinner: Esoteric Old Austrians At Blaue Gans

Share

We don’t often get to taste widely from the old cellars we bring in; we’re a business after all, and can’t keep everything to ourselves. Sometimes, though, we can’t resist and the recent enormous cellar of Austrian wine was just one of those instances. We’ve decided to open quite a few of the more esoteric selections from this collection over a three-course dinner at Chef Kurt Gutenbrunner’s Tribeca outpost, Blaue Gans, and hope that 18 people will join us. The dinner will be Tuesday, March 4th at 7:30pm, and we’ll be drinking the following, covering nearly 45 years of Austrian winemaking history:

Domaine Wachau 1957 Riesling Hollerin
Mantlerhof 1976 Grüner Veltliner Spätlese Spiegel
Mantlerhof 1979 Roter Veltliner Kabinett Wiege
Prager 1981 Riesling Kabinett Steinriegl
Prager 1984 Riesling Kabinett Steinriegl
Jamek 1985 Riesling Cabinet Klaus
Domaine Wachau 1986 Riesling Smaragd Achleiten
Bründlmayer 1988 Weissburguner/Grauburgunder Spiegel
Hirtzberger 1988 Riesling-Sylvaner Novemberlese
FX Pichler 1990 Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Klostersatz
