Raveneau 2003 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnere

What a pleasure to taste a 2003 that still tastes as it should! None of the burned, over-ripe-but-still-raw flavors that afflict so many '03 whites, but pure Chablis mineral and green apple fruit. We have high expecations of the masters of Chablis, and they don't disappoint. JW

Esmonin, Sylvie 2011 Bourgogne Rouge

Esmonin's 2011 Bourgogne Rouge is a big impressive Pinot showing deep, spicy, ripe strawberry and red currant fruit framed with a bit of oak. The palate is dense with dark berry fruits and enough tannin to develop nicely over the next 5 to 8 years. Really a full and satisfying red Burgundy at a good price...

Fourrier 2007 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques

Superstar! This is one of the 1er Crus that some think should be elevated to Grand Cru. Fourrier is one of the 5 producers of Clos St Jacques and one of the best. Red fruits primarily on the nose, it is very complex and multi-faceted with a very long finish. A great wine. These vines were planted in 1910.

Lafarge, Michel 2004 Volnay Vendanges Selectionees

The VS takes it up another level; deeper than the Volnay, with dark cherry fruit and meaty notes; great complexity and good length — a very fine wine. JW

Lafarge, Michel 2004 Volnay 1er Cru Clos du Chateau des Ducs

Aromatically this showed very tight in June, but it was fabulous on the palate — complex red fruit and terroir, very ripe tannin and beautiful acidity, amazing length. A delicious and most refined wine. JW
