San Lorenzo is along the slope to the east of Monvigliero, with slightly more western exposures. Vittorio says that San Lorenzo Barolo is usually "feminine and more delicate" than his other wines. I certainly found the tannins to be soft and accessible, and the wine to be open and fresh with excellent balance. A lovely wine now, but clearly with a long way to go. Jamie Wolff
I really enjoyed this with some air. Deep red fruit on the nose, dark cherry, red plums, with some of baking spice, nutmeg, cedar, hints of exotic spice such as star anise, an a bit of cocoa. There is a nuance and complexity (especially in the fruit elements) that is a clear upgrade on the normale bottling. Still quite lifted and vibrant on the palate, but with just a tiny hint of austerity and bitterness. Oskar Kostecki
