    This is a serious and simultaneosly charming and care-free rosé from our dear friend Emily Campeau, and her hubby Christoph, made from biodynamically farmed grapes that they harvested at the Weninger estate in Burgenland, on the Austro-Hungarian border. In fact all of the grapes for the Wein Goutte project are from Hungary, as Weninger has some vineyards on both sides of the border and Emily and Christoph used the grapes from the Hungarian harvest. Mostly Pinot Noir, with about 24% Zweigelt, from Gneiss and mica-schiste soils with a mix of limestone. The Pinot Noir grapes were gently macerated by foot, left to soak, and then pressed 4 days later, and this juice was combined with direct press Zweigelt. Aging was in neutral barrels for about a year and a small addition of SO2 at the bottling. Flavors of fleshy tart cranberry, but with ripe red fruit and roundness to the palate, thanks to the healthy, plump grapes that grow in this unique, warm micro-climate of Lake Neusiedler. A very promising first vintage for the Wein Goutte duo!
